Project
Summary

The 1400 building was a new construction 2-story classroom and office building and the 200 building was a multi-use campus commons building constructed in 2007 and 2008. After the firm designed these two new buildings the quad that connects these buildings to the existing campus needed an overhaul. Flewelling & Moody was tasked to master plan the main campus quadrangle in order to address pedestrian and bike access from Chapman Avenue, the pedestrian bridge over Chapman Avenue, the parking garage and the multiple nodes of building entry surrounding the quadrangle including the entry points and student patios from the newer buildings added to the campus. A long list of programmatic requirements for the quadrangle was incorporated into the design in order to address the many activities and annual events held in the quadrangle along with the everyday use by the students. The participation of the shared governance as required by the project provided an opportunity for the design team to interact and obtain input from the student senate, faculty senate, the campus managers, campus security and the campus facilities representatives. The Phase 1 portion of this project was executed by the college and completed in the summer of 2013.
