Project
Summary
The construction of the new Santa Ana College was huge news in local papers. Speculation around whether or not it would eventually become a four-year public university was a topic of ongoing debate and interest within the community. The floor plan of the student union was the result of months of planning and discussion. In the spring of 1947 the students of the college voted for their preference for certain arrangements and facilities. From an almost unanimous selection, the present floor plan was submitted to Ralph C. Flewelling for drafting the scaled plans and specifications. The dedication ceremony took place on a Sunday afternoon in April and was followed by an opportunity for the entire community to tour the new facilities. Members of the Board of Education and the architect himself, Ralph C. Flewelling, were in attendance.
