Project
Summary
Designed by Ralph Carlin Flewelling, the two-tiered circular fountain features a raised central spray area encircled by a 30-foot diameter pool as well as a central sculpture and bas-relief crafted by sculptor Robert Merrell Gage. The 6 foot, granite sculpture is that of a Tongva Native American, an homage to the area’s early inhabitants whose settlements date back to the 1500s. This landmark reflects Los Angeles’ cultural heritage, serving as a timeless focal point in the city’s urban landscape.
