As a Project Architect, you will be entrusted with the technical leadership and execution of your projects. We are looking for someone who takes genuine ownership of their work; someone who can independently develop, coordinate, and deliver complete, accurate, and thoughtfully detailed construction document packages from design through DSA closeout. What You Will Do:
- Lead the architectural team through all phases of design, documentation, bidding, and construction administration.
- Coordinate and mentor Architectural Designers, Job Captains, and Interns while fostering a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Take ownership of the preparation, coordination, and quality control of construction documents utilizing Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM workflows.
- Ensure project documents meet Flewelling & Moody’s standards for quality, constructability, coordination, and technical excellence.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams, including structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and specialty consultants.
- Lead project code analysis, accessibility compliance, and DSA coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and consultant deliverables for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable California Building Codes.
- Participate in client meetings, consultant coordination meetings, agency reviews, and construction meetings.
- Review RFIs, submittals, ASIs, change orders, and field observations while supporting successful project delivery.
- Conduct site visits and construction observations to ensure design intent and quality are maintained throughout construction.
- Collaborate with Project Managers/Principal-in-Charge to manage project schedules, staffing, budgets, and deliverables.
- Promote continuous improvement through mentorship, technical leadership, and adherence to firm-wide BIM and quality standards.
- Lead technical decision-making throughout the project while maintaining design intent, constructability, and code compliance.
- Be well organized, highly proficient in English, with strong written and communication skills

What You Will Bring:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
- Licensed Architect in the State of California.
- 10+ years of experience in all phases of a project from programming to construction documents and administration.
- Demonstrated experience leading projects through all phases, from programming and schematic design through construction administration and DSA closeout.
- Strong experience with California educational facilities (K-12, higher education) and DSA processes.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams and resolving complex technical challenges.
- Comprehensive knowledge of California Building Codes, accessibility requirements, and construction detailing.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of technical quality.
- Passion for mentoring and developing emerging professionals.
- Recent work experience in California is a plus
- High proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Photoshop, SketchUp, Rhino, Enscape, Autodesk Forma, Word & Excel.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with principals, project teams, and consultants.
